It all starts early. At 6:50 a.m., a bus picks us up and drives us to the Itabaca Channel dock. There a yacht awaits — your gateway to one of the most unforgettable experiences in the archipelago.
We sail across turquoise waters for about two hours. On arrival, Bartolomé Island rises majestically before you, with its landscape from another planet.
We climb a stairway carved into volcanic rock. From the summit, two crescent-shaped bays embrace the famous Pinnacle Rock, an imposing spire of black lava shaped by centuries of wind and sea.
Equipped with mask and fins, we dive into crystal-clear waters to snorkel among sea turtles, white-tipped reef sharks, colorful fish, playful sea lions and even the elusive Galápagos penguins.
After lunch on board, the journey continues to Sullivan Bay. Here the land itself tells its story: fields of solidified lava dating from an eruption in 1903 create a striking display of textures, colors and shapes.
If you visit between January and March, you may be lucky enough to witness green sea turtles arriving to nest.
